In the era of rapid digital advancement, the role of a Change and Release Manager facilitate seamless digital transformation, ensuring that changes and releases are managed efficiently and without disruption.



A Change and Release Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of changes and releases, lead the change advisory board, ensuring adequate risk assessment and scheduling of technical changes and releases. They own the configuration management database and the access, security and configuration.

Key Responsibilities


  • Change Management: Assessing, approving, scheduling, and overseeing the implementation of changes to ensure they are executed smoothly and with minimal disruption to services.
  • Release Management: Planning, scheduling, and controlling the movement of releases to test and live environments. This includes ensuring that all aspects of a release are considered, including risk assessment, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication.
  • Risk Management: Identifying potential risks associated with changes and releases and developing strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Ensuring that all stakeholders are informed of the status and impact of changes and releases. This includes managing expectations and providing timely updates.
  • Documentation: Maintaining comprehensive records of all changes and releases, including documentation of processes, procedures, and lessons learned.

Skills & Qualifications

  • ITIL Certification: Knowledge of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) practices is essential, as it provides a framework for managing IT services.
  • Project Management: Proficiency in project management methodologies, such as PRINCE2 or Agile, is crucial for planning and executing changes and releases effectively.
  • Technical Proficiency: A solid understanding of the technical aspects of the systems being managed, including software development, testing, and deployment processes.
  • Leadership: The ability to lead and motivate teams, manage conflicts, and drive successful outcomes.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills to liaise with technical teams, stakeholders, and senior management.
  • Problem-Solving: Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities to address issues that arise during the change and release process.
