QAT Analyst for the UK Government

A QAT (Quality Assurance and Testing) Analyst in the UK public sector ensures that digital products and services are reliable, secure, and deliver a positive user experience. As part of government digital transformation projects, QAT Analysts are responsible for verifying that digital solutions meet strict quality standards and regulatory requirements, contributing to public confidence in government services.

Key Responsibilities


  • Designing and Executing Test Plans: Develop test plans and cases to validate that digital services meet the required functional, security, and performance standards.
  • Conducting Functional and Non-Functional Testing: Perform testing across multiple areas, including functionality, usability, accessibility, performance, and security, to ensure all aspects of the service meet quality standards.
  • Working in Agile Environments: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including developers, product managers, and UX designers, often using Agile practices to ensure testing aligns with iterative development cycles.
  • Identifying and Reporting Defects: Document and communicate issues, prioritizing critical bugs for resolution and providing detailed feedback to development teams.
  • Automating Testing Processes: Use test automation tools to streamline repetitive tasks, increase test coverage, and improve efficiency for faster deployments.
  • Ensuring Compliance and Security Standards: Verify that services meet public sector regulatory requirements, including data protection and cybersecurity standards, safeguarding user data and service integrity.
  • Providing Quality Metrics and Reports: Track testing metrics and create reports to keep stakeholders informed of testing progress, quality metrics, and any identified risks.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in testing tools, automation frameworks, and software testing methodologies is critical for comprehensive quality assurance.
  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail to identify subtle issues that could impact the functionality, usability, or security of digital services.
  • Agile Methodology Knowledge: Familiarity with Agile practices, enabling effective collaboration and testing within iterative development environments.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills to interpret test results, identify root causes of defects, and suggest solutions.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Clear communication skills to report issues, collaborate with development teams, and maintain alignment with product requirements.
  • Understanding of Public Sector Standards: Awareness of public sector compliance, accessibility, and security standards to ensure all services meet mandatory government guidelines.
